COSBA Student Award -- Thomas Stiadle
Class of 2014

Thomas Stiadle is the COSBA award recipient representing Southern Cayuga; he also is the Salutatorian of the SCCS Class of 2014.  Thomas is an intelligent, insightful, ambitious young man.  Thomas has the character, integrity and personality that allows him to make a difference among his peers in the most positive of ways.  His refreshing and polished positive attitude is a constant reminder of his drive for excellence.

Thomas has taken many of our most demanding courses, numerous college courses on and off campus as well as various electives.  He will graduate with 18 college credits offered through Southern Cayuga and 34 college credits from Wells College.  In fact, much of Thomas’ day during his junior and senior years was spent taking courses on the Wells College campus. We have been most impressed with his ability to balance his time at high school and college while still being involved in high school extra-curricular activities.

Thomas is involved in many school-sponsored activities; he is a member of the Southern Cayuga National Honor Society, captain of the High School Challenge Team, captain of Varsity Tennis and he played baseball at various levels throughout his time in Jr/Sr High School.  In addition to the above-mentioned extra-curricular activities, Thomas is a member of the HS Concert Band and Jazz Band as well as played an active part in the creation of the Southern Cayuga Anne Frank Tree Project, creating and maintaining its Facebook page and working on a website for the organization. We are impressed by his dedication to so many activities and his drive to challenge himself academically with the number of college courses he has taken throughout high school.  Thomas truly is a unique student who inspires and represents the best of what a high school student can be.

Thomas will be continuing his education next year at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, OH to double major in Chemistry and Math   Case is known for its world renowned research programs and in its 2014 ratings, U.S. News and World Report: America’s Best Colleges ranked Case Western Reserve University No. 37 among 280 national universities.

It has been a tremendous pleasure getting to know Thomas over the past few years and we wish him the best in the future.
